I general, I deal with far too many leads to have prior clients and coworkers constantly bothered by them. If you are willing to act as a reference for a period of a year after satisfactory project completion receiving my prospective clients calls and are paying a market wage for my skill and experience level¹:
- There is an older references Word doc in http://ai-integration.biz/pub .
- More recent references can be supplied, at the appropriate time.
Otherwise, the following policy applies:
- You are welcome to use the Word doc above or do any other independent checking.
- I find the whole references thing unenlightened:
- It's demeaning for the worker.
- Doesn't really prove anything, "past performance is no guarantee of future success".
- There are superior means for reducing your risk such as deferring full delivery of sources until function has been demonstrated thru the web, delivery of binary with expiry, etc.. This is an area of interest for me in regards to automated IT labor markets so may be developing further in the context of these domains.
- It's like the testing thing, if you don't whatever it takes to make this judgement on your own, I'd rather you just pass.
¹ $40-60 USD/hr. for full telecommute in 2008-09.
