Here is the big and simple Truth you must first understand about internet domain names :

Registries and Registrars don't own names, they just provide services to the actual owners who are the entities that decide to use a name. Once you own a name it can never be taken from you in the public system as long as you are routing it. The system is constructed to prevent that, as a fundamental principle. Suffixes are no exception, in the public system nobody really owns them although one or another registry may be the responsible top level router at a given time.
