General function

The end functions discussed here, are as generic function widely available. Skype was and Zoom is my current choice for videoconf and desktop sharing that doesn't involve demonstration of the versions of those functions I'm vending as customizable solutions in or outside of a DS context.

I use the apache guacamole server to do interaction with  my desktop   and those of others I'm consulting with, integral with various other services provided from my domain space.

If an Ft support for this active in your DS session, then clicking the desktop link on the expanded doorbell bar should go to the guac server instead of this page unless I or you have set your account to use Zoom instead in which case the doorbell will try to note the id to use with Zoom.

If your sameboat profile link shows in the upper right hand corner of this page, then try again. Otherwise not being logged in is at least part of the reason.

Secure Connections

Your connection is secure, only registered users can connect to the guacamole server. Once registered, you can check your desktop connect here.

Registration is free and fast using google or twitter, or you can manually register which requires manual approval.

Tips for better sharing experience

Decide on supporting mode of interaction

Ft Doorbell

The Ft doorbell fronts the Jitsi video service and is the default means of live interaction. You may need to expand the doorbell bar by clicking on the flap to see a desktop link.

Phone Call

Ft doorbell supports smart phones and is meant to coordinate with the desktop sharing but a regular phone call can be used instead. You will still need to register to use the desktop service.

Chat

Instead of or in addition to voice and/or video, you can use either the Jitsi or Guacamole chat functions.

Setup any remote server connections

Typically this will be ssh sessions with your AWS, Linode, or other hosts. I can help you set this up in a session, if you don't already have it, since you can't really own ur cloud without.

Be at an actual desktop

Tablets such as iPad Pro may be supported later but for now an actual Linux, Mac, or Windows desktop is required.

Close pornhub tabs

Just kidding, but you may want to check if anything sensitive on the desktop needs to be adjusted for the session.
